You are welcome here!
Community Congregational United Church of Christ welcomes all people to participate according to their faith during our worship services. We worship God our Creator, seek to follow Jesus Christ and to be guided by the Holy Spirit. In the United Church of Christ visitors and members are welcome to believe according to their faith and understanding. No matter who you are or where you are on life's journey, you are welcome here. No matter your personal history, your sexual orientation, your gender identity, the color of your skin or ethnicity we invite you to come. Community Congregational United Church of Christ is on a journey together. We support and welcome all who God created in God's image. Everyone is expected to respect and honor one another’s beliefs.
Worship Services
Our worship service leans toward traditional. Each worshiper is invited to seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance as we listen to the biblical texts and the pastor’s message. Prayers for the world and prayers for family and friends are offered. We enjoy an organist and pianist at most services. The hymns we sing usually use more contemporary language alongside a few oldies but goodies tunes and words. We are blessed with the music of a church choir.
Children Welcome
We welcome children, even fidgeting ones, and offer a special time with children during worship. There is a nursery after our “Children’s Time” for babies through kindergarten, however parents are welcome to have the children remain with them during the remainder of the service.
The Sacrament of Holy Communion
We serve the Sacrament of Holy Communion on the first and third Sunday of each month. Anyone who believes in Jesus Christ is welcome to receive the bread and cup (grape juice) according to their faith and understanding.
The Sacrament of Baptism
We offer the Sacrament of Baptism to infants, children, and adults throughout the year. Usually, we sprinkle water on an individual’s head though baptism by immersion can also be arranged.
Weddings
Weddings in the church are officiated by our pastor. The pastor also officiates at other venues. We marry same gender couples. If you would like to have the pastor officiate at your wedding, please call the church office at (734) 878-3140 or email the pastor at [email protected]. Premarital coaching prior to the wedding using the “Prepare and Enrich” program is expected.
Funerals
Christian funerals, led by our pastor, can be arranged by calling the church office. As we give thanks to God for the life of the deceased, we seek to support family and friends in their grief. So that funeral/memorial services can speak to the life of the deceased, families are asked to meet with the pastor prior to the service.
